Ceramic Injection Molding Process

Material Production – Our application engineer help you choose from variety of advanced technical ceramics.
Molding – State-of-the-art injection molding machines heat feedstock to a flowable state and pressure inject it into a steel mold. The part then is cooled until solid and ejected from the mold
Debinding – Some materials may require either thermal or chemical bath debinding prior to the sintering process.
Sintering – In kilns capable of exceeding 1700° C, ceramics are sintered to full density, removing any remaining binders or organics.
Finishing Operations – If needed, operations such as ceramic machining, grinding, Lapping and Polishing Services are available to meet customer specifications.

We use a variety of ceramic injection molding materials such as 99.8% alumina oxide, 96% alumina oxide, Zirconia Oxide and Silicon Nitride. Ortech refinement of alumina to 99.8% purity provides for more dense, harder, more abrasion resistant parts than those made by other processes, which speeds up the manufacturing process, and substantially reduces manufacturing cost! The resulting ceramic injection molding parts are superior in quality, and lower in cost.
Alumina Oxide(Al2O3)
Injection molding of Alumina Oxide(Al2O3) has superb material characteristics such as high electrical insulation, high mechanical strength, high wear and chemical resistance.
Zirconia Oxide (ZrO2)
Injection molding of Zirconia Oxide (ZrO2) has the highest strength and toughness at room temperature of all the advanced ceramic materials. The fine grain size allows for extremely smooth surfaces and sharp edges. Applications include scissors, knifes, slitters, pump shafts, metal-forming tools, fixtures, tweezers, wire drawing rings, bearing sleeves and valves.
